Trimble UAS aerial image data can be processed into powerful deliverables with the Trimble Business Center (TBC) Photogrammetry Module. The TBC Photogrammetry Module is based on state-of-the-art image processing technology. The incorporation of photogrammetric algorithms specialized for small UAS produces very accurate results automatically, with minimal manual interaction. This office software combined with the Trimble UX5 provides a reliable photogrammetric system delivering excellent results without requiring specialized photogrammetry knowledge or experience.
The TBC Photogrammetry Module works seamlessly with the TBC Complete and Advanced software editions, making it possible to process complete survey projects including aerial imagery, Trimble VISION imagery, GNSS data, and total station observations.
The aerial triangulation process adjusts the aerial photo stations, automatically finding matching tie points in overlapping images to correct their relative positions and orientations. Easily register ground control points (GCP’s) to correct the absolute position and scale of the photo stations. Image adjustment is executed automatically with a single mouse click, requiring only 10 seconds per image to process (incl. camera refinement) and achieving an average re-projection error of about 1 pixel.
Automatically matched tie-points are distributed densely over the complete project, even in challenging low-texture terrain. Additional features such as full camera calibration, automatic quality assurance and blunder removal are available to ensure result quality.
TBC’s “virtual telescope” intersects points from multiple aerial photo stations and/or terrestrial Trimble VISION photo stations, to enable measurement of discrete points. Accurately and efficiently measure the locations of features including buildings corners, tree-tops, and utilities.
Automatically create 3D colored point clouds from adjusted photo stations. Based on 25 years of technology evolution, TBC’s point cloud generation algorithms are based on state-of-the-art Inpho dense matching and DTM generation software. The fully automatic process adapts parameters to guarantee precision, providing extremely detailed and accurate results at a speed of about 3 sec. per image with about 1-2 pixels height accuracy.
Automatically create 3D digital surface models from adjusted photo stations. A raster DSM created from the generated point cloud is refined using sophisticated interpolation routines, noise filtering, edge modeling and outlier detection to achieve rich detail within surface models.
Automatically create ortho-rectified, georeferenced mosaics from adjusted photo stations. Rigid “True-Ortho” rectification combined with outstanding geometric feature-based seamline-finding and radiometric balancing result in perfect looking seamless ortho-mosaics. Seams are adaptively blended according to image texture analysis. Radiometric single image corrections as well image group corrections are applied for perfect homogeneous colors and intensity, ready for GIS use. The automatic process only takes about 4 sec. per image.
