England welcomes its first Trimble UX5 HP
Geocurve Ltd, specialist surveyors and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle operators, have acquired the first Trimble UX5 HP aerial mapping system in England. Thank you to our UK distributor - Korec Group. The UX5 HP will complement Essex-based Geocurve’s existing portfolio of almost a dozen fixed-wing and multi-rotor UAVs, operated by their team of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) accredited pilots.
Geocurve has been involved in several high profile projects in the environmental, quarrying and construction sectors. With its expanding customer base and increased work load, Geocurve has selected the Trimble UX5 HP for its advanced specification and robust weather-resistance.
Gary Nel, Geocurve’s Director of Engineering & Survey Services, listed three reasons why Geocurve is expanding its fleet of UAVs with the UX5 HP:
- Robust poor weather performance - it can fly in wind speeds of up to 55km/h and in light rain
- Integrated Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) – which means no need for separate ground controls
- New 15mm wide angle camera lens option – delivers increased area coverage for the same flying time
Gary said "We estimate that the UX5 HP will double our productivity, particularly when used in conjunction with our CAA Extended Line of Sight Permissions. The integrated GNSS not only saves us time by eliminating the need for separate ground controls, but also eliminates the risks associated with laying these points in dangerous environments such as quarries. Geocurve was one of the first companies in England to operate a fixed wing UAV commercially, the first to be granted CAA Congested Area Permissions and now we are delighted to be the first to take delivery of a KOREC supplied Trimble UX5 HP,”
